Amazing area with tons of trails and plenty of places to primitive camp.

Accessible from Rt. 30 north of Speculator, NY. A little steep at the end of the assent, but worth enduring for the beautiful views. 6yo on up can do this, no problem. Eagle Caves and other smaller crags are extra fun for exploring (take a head lamp and watch your step --saw ice inside in mid-July one year)

Gorgeous forest, just on the edge of the remaining oak in the Adirondacks. Good, well-maintained trails worthy of overnight and long hikes.

The Siamese Ponds Wilderness is a 114,000 acre area administered by New York State's Department of Environmental Conservation. It is one of the prime areas in the south-central Adirondack Park for hiking, fishing, boating. cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, birding, and rock/ice climbing. Boating is limited to canoes, kayaks and other non-motorized boats, and to boats with electric motors. There are 124 primitive tent sites available to the public. Permits are required only for groups of 10 or more. Bird species include bald and golden eagles, peregrine falcons, osprey, hawks and loons. The two main trailheads are Old Farm Clearing parking lot and Thirteenth Lake parking lot.

Easy hike with great views, family friendly camping not too far from the car. Also more remote camping and hiking for more experienced adventurers. Love the Adirondacks
